Dobra is a partnership with Appleton, curated by Rita Baleia, that explores the dialogue between two artists, visual culture and materiality.
In ECO, the third exhibition of the Dobra cycle, photography serves as a starting point for exploring new possibilities. Bringing together different artistic practices, Beatriz Banha transforms inscriptions into sculpture, while David Leal intervenes directly on photographs, exploring the forms that persist over time.
The central focus in ECO lies on the echoes of time and the ways in which certain symbols endure throughout history, keeping traces of past eras alive. Through stone circles, marble, eyes that evoke caves and petroglyphs, the exhibition reveals materials that preserve the energy and experiences of an earlier time, as though each carried within it an echo of what once was.
